About Us

The Journey

It all started post-COVID. Like so many others, I felt disconnected and a little lost. I’ve always loved sewing, dipping in and out of it throughout my life, but during that time, I realised just how much I missed the connection it brought. I wanted to connect with others through sewing, but to my surprise, I couldn’t find anywhere nearby to do this.

So, me being me, I decided to create that space myself — and that’s how Needles and Pinza began.

I started with a small group of 10 students and partnered with a highly experienced seamstress to lead the first class. It was an incredible experience. By the end of the six-week block, our students had learned new skills, felt inspired, and discovered their own love for sewing. The enthusiasm was contagious, and soon, inquiries began pouring in faster than I could organise new classes.

Unfortunately, our seamstress had to step back due to her busy schedule. At that point, I decided to take the leap and lead the classes myself. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I hit the ground running, designing lesson plans, building a dedicated studio, and diving into teaching. With my years of experience teaching, mentoring, and running a business, I knew I could create a structured and enjoyable learning experience.

In just the first year, Needles and Pinza has exceeded all my expectations. Over eight months, I’ve had the joy of teaching over 30 students in workshops and classes. Watching people gain confidence, discover their creativity, and embrace sewing has been immensely rewarding.

As Needles and Pinza continues to grow, I’m committed to delivering high-quality classes and workshops. By forming strong relationships with industry specialists, I aim to bring the very best expertise and experiences to our hometown of Warrnambool. A place rich in sewing history, Warrnambool — home of Fletcher Jones — is the perfect backdrop for reviving and celebrating the art of dressmaking.
